CYPHER13 DESIGN STUDIO WISHES YOU AN EXCITING AND FORTUITOUS 2009. A HUGE DEBT OF GRATITUDE GOES OUT TO EVERYONE WE WORKED & PLAYED WITH IN 2008. WE HAD A BLAST THANKS TO YOU!
TAKE A LOOK...
2008 INTERNAL HIGHLIGHTS
cypher13 Identity Redesign:
It was time to revisit our ID. So we did. Our thinking and central philosophy has evolved significantly. Our ID needed to reflect our thinking.
Studio Remodel:
Alongside our new and improved design philosophy came a studio remodel. Like our ID update, it was time.
Mythical Beasts:
A concept, within a concept, wrapped up in a photo shoot... this brilliant idea was spawned on the way to the movies.
C13 Team Illustrations:
We were in need of some illustrated glamour shots for various internal collateral components... handsome devils.
Featured in New Web Pick:
New Web Pick is a Hong Kong based design and illustration magazine. They liked our work and asked us to be included in issue #15.
C13 Online Store:
Working in the realm of e-commerce for some years left us feeling the need to have our own little boutique shop. We turned to BigCartel and got custom.
Schwarzweiss:
Our European design sensibility and a taste for the "clean" and "stark" was the catalyst for the Scharzweiss shoot. We danced... and then bonded.
ProCreation:
Our first C13 team shoot. And a day to remember. The day we realized that we're all quite comfortable in our undies on camera?
C13 on Flickr:
Flickr is a force to be reckonened with. Not being fans of facebook, we chose the social network for folks that do and don't just chatter.
C13:T001: Our 1st typeface
Our first foray into type creation, and what a blast. Now we make our own fonts. This is numero uno, and intended to serve as a display font.
C13:T002: Our 2nd typeface
This typeface was designed for an LCD clock design we're working on. It makes a very nice extra-technical display face.
C13:T003: Our 3rd typeface
We realized that large and blocky display letters aren't all that hard to conceive. Thin, more legible, almost book-like type is much harder. Lots more to come!
2008 EXHIBITION HIGHLIGHTS
Night Owls:
Markham "Shitty Kitten" Maes invited us to participate in Night Owls. We challenged ourselves by creating a blank owl as a platform and then each painted our own.

Bordo Bello:
We were asked by the AIGA to feature skateboard-based work in Bordo Bello to help reaise funds for education in the arts. We got crazy with our pal Kurt and his laser.
Square Footage:
A group exhibition where the only limitation was size. We built on the concept and took it much, much further. Although, we may be the only ones who really understand it. Art?
DWR x Salomon:
Design Within Reach teamed up with Salomon Snowboards to host a contest to "Design the Modern Board." We did just that.

Tee & Cakes:
Brian "Big" Wood and Kim Boos asked us to help attract some attention to their new shop during next door construction. We created some cupcakes and mixed the wheatpaste thick.
