KidsPatch: Children's Creativity Lab
July 27, 2010
KidsPatch is an event series dedicated to "new children's creativity". Each event consists of a series of workshops for kids (age 5-12). All of the workshops focus on the fields of music, graphic art, performance and new media. The program is 100% participative and offers a completely new and intuitive approach to children's education in the context of arts and culture. The pilot event was initiated in Belgrade, Serbia in 2008, and has since traveled internationally and reached a large number of young participants.
For KidsPatch: Children's Creativity Lab, at the Biennial of the Americas, a specially commissioned program was designed. Being the largest KidsPatch production to date, artists from throughout the Americas were assembled and paired with small groups of children. Artists were asked to produce their own, unique, KidsPatch Creativity Lab and then to engage in the experience with their kids.
For our first KidsPatch, cypher13 designed an immersive, multi-media art project experience, focused on developing both individual skills and creativity while prompting larger group collaboration.
KidsPatch at the Biennial of the Americas was curated by Nana Radenkovic, Relja Bobic, Kate Lesta, and was held in collaboration with Pictoplasma. Other participating artists included Jeronimo Hagerman, SWEATSHOPPE, and the Humble Arts Collective.
